Ok, so this is less a strategy and more about taking advantage. Many live auctions offer promotional bids from time to time. These are always a great opportunity to make bids without any financial risk. The new players promotions are particularly good, be sure you take advantage.
Know Your Competitors
This is fundamental to winning; you need to know whom you are up against in order to win. Use a notebook and note anyone who seems to win consistently. Once you have their names, then enter a bidding war with them or observe them in a bidding war with somebody else. Take not of their strategy: when they place bids, how often they place bids, which times of day they play, and anything else that strikes you as pertinent.
